The first key to Vertical Gardening is the pots and containers you use to pot the plants. They should hold and suspend soil one on top of another in place of spreading them out like in a traditional gardening plot. Since you hang pot upon pot of soil, you utilize even the smallest area you have to its maximum capacity. The plants you put in those pots will also have all the suspension that will be there in vertical gardening. That means, you must brush up your knowledge of pots and plant suspension when you are trying Vertical Gardening. Vines like peas, cucumber and tomatoes will flourish fantastically in your vertical garden.

The next key to successful vertical gardening, in fact to most kind of gardening, is your local climate. You must know which vegetables and fruits will produce fantastically with minimum effort in your local area. That means, if your climate stays warm for most of the time, you cannot go for plants that thrive in cold climates! So before you embark on the project of Vertical Gardening, make a list of vegetables and fruits that are local to your area. Read books that will give you an idea regarding local climate and vegetation. It is best to go with Mother Nature even if your Vertical Garden may be in a concrete jungle! In fact, since your plants will be in a wormer temperature and hence in better position than outdoor plants!
